Arrest after assault at West Lakes Westfield

A boy has been arrested following an assault in the West Lakes Shopping Centre this morning.

Just before 11am on Sunday 12 January, police were called to the West Lakes Shopping Centre after reports a member of the public had been assaulted with a sharp projectile that police allege he inserted in a toy, allowing it to be fired.

The member of the public was treated at the scene for her injury.

With the assistance of shopping centre security, Police were able to respond and quickly apprehend the youth in possession of the toy.

The 11-year-old boy has been charged with assault and carry offensive weapon in a school or public place. He has been bailed to attend at the Port Adelaide Youth Court on 3 April.

Investigations are continuing.
