27 Dec 2024 6:32am

A man has been arrested after allegedly breaking into a gift shop in Rosewater earlier this morning.

About 2.20am on Friday 27 December, police were called to Grand Junction Road at Rosewater, after reports of a break-in.

Western District patrols were quickly in the area and located a man nearby on Grand Junction Road suffering from minor injuries.

Following an investigation, police will allege that the man broke into the shop through a side window.  When he was inside, he was confronted by the residents.  The man allegedly pushed the resident, a woman aged in her 70s and smashed a window to gain entry onto the roof of the property.

The suspect jumped from the roof of the property and made his way east on Grand Junction Road.

The 39-year-old man from Pennington, was arrested and taken to hospital where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.  He is expected to be charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass, aggravated assault and property damage.  He will be appearing in Adelaide Magistrates Court later today.

The victim was not physically injured as a result of the assault.
