Drink driver crashes in western suburbs

15 Feb 2025 6:46am

A drink driver has been arrested following a hit and run crash in the western suburbs earlier this morning.

Just after 2am on Saturday 15 February, police were called to Seaview Road at Henley Beach after reports a car was being driven with only three tyres.

The silver Mercedes Benz sedan was spotted a short time later and police spoke with the driver.

Police will allege the car crashed into a parked Holden station wagon moments earlier on Military Road at West Beach and took off from the scene.

The driver, a 32-year-old man from Henley Beach, submitted to a breath test where he provided a positive result of 0.156 – more than three times over the legal limit.  Checks revealed the man was disqualified from driving.

The man was arrested and charged with driving without due care, failing to stop at a crash, drink driving, driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle and driving whilst being disqualified.  He was granted police bail and will appear in Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on 17 March.
