Officers searched the area and the nearby West Croydon Railway Station and located the suspect hiding in bushes, off Euston Terrace.
The 46-year-old Elizabeth South man was arrested and charged with theft. He was bailed to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on 29 April.
