Man arrested for drug and weapons offences in western suburbs

A man was arrested earlier this week after police located a hydroponic setup with almost 300 cannabis plants and a gel blaster in the western suburbs.

About 8.40 am on Friday 9 September, Western District Detectives attended and searched a property at Kent Town and located 154 hydroponically grown cannabis plants.

On the same day, Detectives attended and searched a second address at Ridleyton and located a 141 cannabis plants within the property in a hydroponic set up and about 6kg of dried cannabis.

Later that day, Detectives searched a property at Largs Bay and located a gel blaster, laser pointer and a knuckle duster.

Following an investigation, on Wednesday 11 September, Detectives arrested a 59-year-old man from Largs North. He was charged with two counts of cultivating a large commercial quantity of cannabis, two counts of diverting electricity, two counts of possessing prescribed equipment, drug trafficking, possessing a firearm and two counts of possessing a prohibited weapon.

The man appeared in court on Wednesday 11 September. He was granted court bail to appear at a later date.
