Update: Officer injured in disturbance at Woodville Gardens

23 Oct 2024 11:33am

A police officer was injured while attending a disturbance at Woodville Gardens last night.

Police were called to a Humphries Terrace, Woodville Gardens address about 12.20am on Wednesday 23 October to assist a family disturbance.

While attempting to remove a woman from the home, it will be alleged she bit an officer on the forearm and caused him facial injuries during the struggle.

The attending patrol called for urgent assistance as the occupants of the house were behaving aggressively and threatening police.

The woman was tasered due to her aggressive behaviour and to effect an arrest.

The 23-year-old woman was arrested and taken to hospital for a health assessment.  She was charged shortly after with assaulting a prescribed emergency worker and resisting arrest.  She was granted police bail to appear in Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on 20 November.

The bitten officer was taken to hospital for medical treatment and is expected to make a full recovery.
