Pair arrested in stolen car

02 Nov 2024 7:09am

Two people have been arrested after they were caught napping in a stolen car in the western suburbs this morning.

About 5.15am on Saturday 2 November, patrols were travelling on Blakeney Road at Ottoway when they spotted a blue Isuzu utility stationary but still running on the wrong side of the road and parked on an unusual angle.

Checks revealed the car had been stolen from a North Adelaide address earlier this week.

Western District patrols approached the car and saw a driver and passenger both asleep inside.  PD Chaos and his handler were called in to assist and police blocked in the car.

Upon seeing police, the driver attempted to put the vehicle in motion but was quickly stopped and arrested without incident.

A 29-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman both from Ceduna were arrested and charged with illegal use.  The man was further charged with providing false details and outstanding matters.  He was refused police bail and will appear in court on Monday 4 November. The woman was granted police bail and will appear in court at a later date.

The car was towed from the scene.
