A man has been arrested at Basket Range following a lengthy pursuit across the metropolitan area overnight.
About 9.30pm on Thursday 21 November, police spotted a motorbike with no number plates riding on Stebonheath Road at Munno Para West. Patrols didn’t pursue the Suzuki but called in PolAir to track it from the air.
The motorbike was tracked for a short time through the northern suburbs before it stopped at Dalkeith Road, Kudla.
The rider was seen pushing the bike into a shed and shortly after a silver Mercedes SUV reversed out and drove away.
The vehicle collided with a stationary police car on Dalkeith Road and kept driving. Luckily the officer was not injured.
PolAir continued to track the Mercedes from Munno Para to Burton until it stopped on Elm Glade Court. The driver abandoned the vehicle and took off again in a silver Holden sedan.
Tracking continued on the Holden across the western and eastern suburbs before heading up the South Eastern Freeway.
The Holden collided with a member of the public’s car just after 10pm at North Terrace and Morphett Street after running a red light. Luckily the driver was not injured.
The driver eventually stopped on Lobethal Road at Basket Range where he abandoned the vehicle just before 11pm. Police patrols were able to safely arrest the man without further incident.
A 30-year-old Paralowie man has been charged with a number of offences including dangerous driving to escape police pursuit, driving at a dangerous speed, driving unlicenced and failing to stop at a crash. He was refused bail and will be appearing in Adelaide Magistrates Court today.
