Police and firefighters attended two suspicious car fires overnight.
At midnight Tuesday 1 April, police and firefighters were called to Foote Avenue, Kilburn after reports that a car was on fire in a driveway. On arrival, the car was fully alight however MFS quickly extinguished the blaze, preventing it from spreading to the house. Unfortunately, the car was destroyed. Western District detectives and crime scene officers attended the scene to determine the cause of the fire. The fire is believed to have been deliberately lit.
Just after 1am on the same morning, police and firefighters attended Victoria Road, Outer Harbor after reports of a second car fire. MFS extinguished the fire which destroyed the car. Checks on the car revealed that it was listed as stolen from a Largs North business on 23 March.
The fires are not believed to be linked and investigations into both are ongoing.
