Two youths arrested in the western suburbs

26 Jun 2024 5:17pm

Two youths have been arrested for a string of offences including the theft of a car in the western suburbs today.

About 10.40am on Wednesday 26 June, police responded to a report of four boys in a grey Mazda CX9 threatening another youth on Osborne Road at North Haven.

The boy ran to a nearby supermarket for safety and alerted police to the incident.

Patrols attended and searched the area and located the Mazda in nearby Brooklyn Terrace.

Police checks revealed the car was reported as being stolen from Bolivar overnight on Monday 24 June.

Checks further also revealed the vehicle was involved in a petrol drive off at a Bolivar service station on Tuesday 25 June.

Police reviewed CCTV footage from the petrol theft and identified two persons of interest who lived nearby.

Dog Operations members attended the scene and cordons were established around the home.

Two boys identified from the petrol drive-off, were located at the North Haven home and were subsequently arrested.  A 14-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy both from Burton were charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle, making off without payment and assault.  They have been refused police bail and will appear in Adelaide Youth Court tomorrow (Thursday 26 June).
