Western suburbs child exploitation arrest

22 Oct 2024 2:18pm

Detectives from the SA Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team (JACET), a partnership between SAPOL's Public Protection Branch and the Australian Federal Police (AFP), attended a western suburbs address today and arrested a 23-year-old man in relation to online child sex offences.

Police will allege that the man attempted to make a child amenable to sexual activity during online communication.

Officers from SAPOL’s Digital Evidence Section also attended the home address and seized electronic devices for forensic examination. Investigators have not ruled out further charges once the devices are analysed.

The man did not apply for bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Wednesday 23 October.

Detective Senior Sergeant Graham Tomkins, the Investigations Manager of JACET says, “I am extremely proud of the officers of the JACET in South Australia, their persistence and dedication to identifying those willing to inflict pain and suffering upon our most vulnerable within the community is commendable.

“Our efforts are relentless to ensure our community is made safer by our online presence. I urge all parents to talk to their children about their online safety.”
