A woman was arrested after a police pursuit at Port Pirie last night.
About 6pm on Monday 18 November, police received multiple calls from concerned members of the public about a white Holden sedan driving erratically around the town.
The vehicle was swerving, hitting parked cars and fences and the driver was believed to be under the influence.
The car had been reported stolen from Port Pirie South earlier in the day.
Port Pirie Police located the vehicle on Anzac Road, Risdon Park about 6.15pm, however, the vehicle failed to stop for police. There was a brief pursuit, and a police car was struck causing minor damage before the pursuit was terminated.
A short time later, police located the vehicle driving into the car park of a school on Wandearah Road. An officer managed to reach in through the open window and grab the car keys, however he was dragged along by the car before it came to a stop.
The officer suffered minor injuries and was taken to the local hospital.
The driver, a 40-year-old Solomontown woman, was arrested and charged with drive unlicensed, illegal interference, speed dangerous, drive without due care, drive dangerously to avoid police pursuit, endanger life, property damage, fail to provide particulars at a crash, and refuse blood test.
She was refused police bail and will appear in the Port Pirie Magistrates Court today.
Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed or has dashcam footage of this vehicle driving around Port Pirie last night. They are asked to provide their details to local police or via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au
