Two men will appear in court after being caught drink driving in the states Mid North last month.
Just before 1.45pm on Saturday 29 March, Gladstone police detected a car travelling at 127km/h in a 110km/h zone on Horrocks Highway near Melrose. The Nissan Patrol utility was seen crossing the centre dividing line of the road and travelling on the wrong side of the road.
Police stopped the car and spoke with the driver, a 65-year-old man from Wirrabara. He submitted to a breath test and returned a positive result of 0.169 – more than three times over the legal limit.
He was issued a fine for speeding and driving behaviour, and he was reported for drink driving. The man was issued a 12-month instant loss of licence, and his vehicle was impounded for 28 days. He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
Just before 5pm on Sunday 30 March, police were conducting random static driver testing in Wirrabara and stopped a white Holden Commodore Berlina. Police spoke to the driver, a 31-year-old man from Wilmington, and he submitted to a breath test where he returned a positive result of 0.099 – almost double the legal limit.
He was issued a six-month immediate loss of licence and he was reported for drink driving and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
