18 Aug 2024 3:45pm

A man has been caught drink driving after being stopped at Bungama.

Just after 10.30pm Saturday 17 August, York Mid North Hiighway Patrols stopped a Holden sedan that checks revealed was currently unregistered.

The driver a 50-year-old man from Weeroona Island was breath tested and allegedly returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.148.

He has been reported for drink driving and driving unregistered. His vehicle was impounded and was issued with a six-month instant loss of licence.

Officer in Charge of Highway Patrol, Inspector Mark Atkinson said "Drink driving is a major contributor to fatal and serious injury crashes on our roads. We continue to see some members of our community who still believe it is acceptable behaviour to get behind the wheel of a motor vehicle whilst under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Police will continue to target this behaviour, including regional South Australia and our Highways"
