A man will face court today following an aggravated robbery at Port Pirie last night.

Just after 7pm Tuesday 3 December police were called to a liquor store on Norman Street after reports a man had entered, assaulted staff and demanded cash.

Staff refused and the man allegedly stole an amount of alcohol and left the store.

Police were quickly on scene and placed the suspect, a 29-year-old Port Augusta West man under arrest.

He has been charged with aggravated robbery, assault, assault police and breach of barring order. He will appear in the Port Pirie Magistrates Court today.
