A man has died in hospital from injuries sustained in an alleged assault in Port Pirie West on the long weekend.
About 10.15am Saturday 8 March emergency services were called to a home in Sayner Court, Port Pirie West after reports that a person was unconscious.
The victim, a 40-year-old man from Queenstown, suffered critical injuries and was flown to hospital in Adelaide. Sadly, he has since died in hospital.
A 29-year-old man from Taperoo was arrested at the address and charged with committing assault that causes harm. He will next appear in court on 16 July, where it is expected that charges will be upgraded.
It is believed the men were known to each other.
Investigations are continuing into the man’s death.
