Six drivers have been caught drink driving by Yorke Mid North Highway Patrols in the past week. Four of these drivers lost their licence for six months and will face court at a later date.
About 1.15am on Tuesday 22 October, a 56-year-old man from Tiddy Widdy Beach was caught in Ardrossan with a blood alcohol reading of 0.101.
Just after 10pm on Thursday 24 October, a 56-year-old woman from Ardrossan was caught in Ardrossan with a blood alcohol reading of 0.143.
Just after 7.30pm on Friday 25 October, a 27-year-old man from Yorketown was caught in Yorketown with a blood alcohol reading of 0.100.
Just before 9.30pm on Friday, a 64-year-old woman from Athelstone was caught in Point Turton with a blood alcohol reading of 0.071. She was issued a $951 expiation.
About 6.45pm on Saturday 26 October, a 44-year-old woman from Ardrossan was caught in Ardrossan with a blood alcohol reading of 0.052. She was issued a $951 expiation.
Just before 10pm on Saturday, a 63-year-old woman from Stansbury was caught in Stansbury with a blood alcohol reading of 0.112.
Officer in Charge of Highway Patrol, Inspector Mark Atkinson said, "Drink and drug driving is a major contributor to fatal and serious injury crashes on our roads. It is disappointing to see these results. Police will continue to target regional South Australian roads to detect drivers who are displaying blatant disregard to the safety of other road users."
