Truck driver fined at Warnertown

07 Nov 2024 11:31am

A truck driver has been fined after dangerous driving behaviour in the Yorke Peninsula.

About 2.30pm on Tuesday 5 November, police were conducting an unrelated traffic stop on the Augusta Highway at Warnertown, when they spotted a B-double truck overtaking a small rigid truck.

Both trucks were travelling northbound in a single lane.

Southbound traffic had an overtaking lane (dual lane) which was metres away from ending and reverting back to a single lane.

Police observed the B-double truck drive over double white solid lines during the overtaking and it will be alleged the truck overtook when it was unsafe to do so.

Fortunately no one was injured as a result of this incident.

The driver of the B-double, a 55-year-old man from Eyre was fined for failing to keep left of dividing line formed by two parallel continuous lines and unsafe overtaking.

Police would like to thank the witness who stopped to provide their details relating to this incident and the driver's behaviour.

Any incidents of dangerous driving should be reported to the Police Assistance Line immediately on 131444.
